Kim Reilly- First Contact for 1st, 3rd, and 5th
I am so proud to be a Scotts Ridge Sailor and so excited to be one of your school counselors with Ms. Trueman!
I was born and raised in upstate New York. I received a Bachelor's Degree from SUNY Geneseo and a Master's Degree in School Counseling from SUNY Buffalo. I began my school counseling career in 2009 and in 2012, I moved down to North Carolina and worked for 3 wonderful years at Wakelon Elementary. I have been in a range of elementary settings (inner city, suburban, and rural). I have been at SRE since it's maiden voyage (the year it opened) in 2015. Fun fact- my little guy to the left (Danny) was the first sailor staff baby!
So what brought me to North Carolina? You can blame it on my older sister. She moved down here when she was attending UNC Chapel Hill. She loved it; I loved visiting over the years; and the rest is history!
I love spending time with my family the most. We have two children, Danny and Lexi. Danny is so excited to be a 2nd grade sailor at SRE, and Lexi is finally in kindergarten! She has waited so long. :) We also have a goofy dog named Bingo. He's a piece of work!
I truly believe that elementary school counseling is my calling. I absolutely love working with and supporting our SRE families!

Katie Trueman- First Contact for K, 2nd, and 4th
I am so happy to be at Scotts Ridge Elementary and working with Ms. Reilly! I can already tell that it is a special place!
My name is Katie Trueman and for as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a school counselor. I was raised in West Virginia and received my Bachelor’s and Master’s in School Counseling from Marshall University. After graduation, I moved to the Raleigh area and put roots down in Holly Springs. I began my counseling career in 2005 at A.B. Combs Leadership Magnet Elementary and stayed there for 17 wonderful years! I acquired my National Boards of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) for School Counseling in 2010. I feel honored (and blushing a bit) to be named the 2014 School Counselor of the Year for WCPSS. I truly believe that being a school counselor is the perfect career for me because I get a chance to build relationships with our students, staff, and families. My favorite part is getting to see our students grow and develop their confidence along their journey in elementary school.
When I’m not working, you can find me with my family! I love being outdoors with my husband and two cute kids (Jack and Mae). Mae is excited to be a 5th grade SRE Sailor this year! I also love experimenting with new recipes (especially southern recipes!) and exploring all the special towns in NC with my sweet family and friends.
